Police respond to active shooter at Annunciation Catholic School in south Minneapolis

Law enforcement in south Minneapolis are responding to an active shooter situation at Annunciation Catholic School Wednesday morning.

A large number of first responders are at the scene on 54rd Avenue between Harriet and Garfield avenues. Annunciation Catholic School is attached to a church. According to a school schedule, there was an all-school mass at 8:15 a.m. 

Gov. Tim Walz said he had been briefed on the shooting.

“I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence,” Walz said.

Several agencies, including the FBI, state patrol and Minneapolis police are at the scene. Authorities have not said how many victims there are.
