Less than 24 hours after their epic comeback overtime win over the Packers, the Bears on Sunday clinched a playoff berth when the Lions lost to the Steelers 29-24 in Detroit.
The Bears will qualify for the postseason as either the NFC North champion or one of three wild cards. With Saturday night’s win, they improved their record to 11-4 and extended their division lead to a game-and-a-half lead over Green Bay (9-5-1) with two contests remaining.
The Bears will capture the NFC North title by winning either of their final two games at San Francisco or at home versus Detroit. They would also claim the division championship if they lose their last two contests as long as the Packers drop one of their final two games versus Baltimore or at Minnesota.
All three wild cards will come from the NFC North and NFC West, meaning that six teams are competing for five spots (two division champions and three wild cards): the Bears (11-4), Packers (9-5-1) and Lions (8-7) in the North and the Seahawks (12-3), Rams (11-4) and 49ers (10-4) in the West.
The Bears are currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC behind the Seahawks (12-3), who close the season at Carolina and at San Francisco. The Eagles (10-5) have clinched the NFC East and are the No. 3 seed. The Bears own the tiebreaker over Philadelphia by virtue of their 24-15 win on Nov. 28. The No. 4 seed will go to the winner of the NFC South, either the Panthers (8-7) or Buccaneers (7-8).
On Saturday night, the Bears rallied from a late 16-6 deficit to stun the Packers 22-16 in overtime. They scored 10 points in the final 1:59 of regulation to tie the score 16-16 and then won the game in overtime on Caleb Williams’ 46-yard touchdown heave to DJ Moore.
With the victory, the Bears avenged their Week 14 loss in Green Bay and registered their seventh win in their last eight games.
In coach Ben Johnson’s first season as coach, the Bears are 9-2 since they opened the season 0-2. They’ve won six games this year after trailing in the final 2:00 of regulation, the most in the NFL in 2025 and the most in franchise history.
