A young actor’s life came to a tragic end after he fell out of a moving car just days before Christmas.

Hudson Joseph Meek, 16, sustained blunt force injuries after falling out of the vehicle on the evening of Dec. 19 in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Ala. – located just south of Birmingham.

Two days later, the “Baby Driver” actor succumbed to his wounds “peacefully” on Dec. 21.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” his mother, Lani Wells Meek, posted on her Facebook page. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

The Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating how the incident occurred, the local NBC affiliate WVTM reported.

“He was surrounded by friends, family, and the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” the obituary for Meek read. “Hudson was an organ donor, and his family is comforted by knowing that he will continue to help others for years to come.”

The Alabama native is most known for acting in the three-time Oscar nominated film “Baby Driver” as the role of Young Baby. But he also guest starred in the Emmy-nominated television series “MacGyver” and performed voiceover work for Toys R Us, McDonald’s and the online video game “League of Legends.”

“Hudson was also an accomplished actor,” his obituary added. “He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025. He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew.”

Meek had a very active life off the screen as a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School including playing on the football team, singing in the Honor Choir and being part of the student government.

Outside of school, he obtained an advanced open water scuba diving certification at 14 years old and visited all 50 US states.

“Hudson’s personality was one of a kind,” the obituary stated. “He was confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted. He never let the facts get in the way of a funny story, and he loved friendly banter.”

He is survived by his parents, brother, grandmothers and aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Ala.

A Celebration of Life for the child actor will be held on Saturday.

The service will be available to livestream from his Instagram account or on his mother’s Facebook page, according to his obituary.

His family created the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship that will be rewarded to a Vestavia Hills High School student every year. They’re asking people donate to the fund instead of sending flowers, the obituary said.
