Expectations were high for the Cardinals in 2025, but they were not met, and ultimately that cost Jonathan Gannon his job as head coach.
The team announced on Monday morning Gannon was out after a 3-14 season.
The team lost their last nine. Gannon’s overall record in three seasons was 15-36, and against the NFC West the Cardinals were 3-15 in his tenure.
Owner Michael Bidwill and GM Monti Ossenfort are set to meet the media at noon Arizona time.
Despite the season, players were still supporting Gannon during locker room cleanout Monday morning — the open portion of which ended before news of Gannon’s firing broke around 10 a.m.
“I believe in J.G.,” tackle Paris Johnson Jr. said. “I love the man he is, his approach and as a leader. I believe he brings the most out of the guys here. … He’s never hanging his head. He’s not complaining. He’s trying to scratch and claw to get a win.”
