RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — Arctic air plunged temperatures into the teens with widespread wind chills in the single digits expected through mid-morning Monday.
According to the National Weather Service, this cold snap brings elevated risks for cold exposure. Adding to the chill, gusty northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph will bring peak gusts up to 35 mph. These winds could easily send unsecured outdoor items, including holiday decorations, flying.
A Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect for all of Central North Carolina until Monday at 9 a.m.
Sunny and milder weather is expected for Tuesday, followed by a gradual warmup through the week.
Highs will peak in the mid-60s on Thursday. There’s a chance of a shower late Thursday night into early Friday morning, but temperatures will stay warm enough to keep it all liquid.
