Disney Stock Will ‘Go Down’ if ABC Cancels Jimmy Kimmel

Longtime Marvel star Mark Ruffalo is sharing his thoughts on ABC pulling Jimmy Kimmel off the air.

In a post to Threads, Ruffalo re-shared a report claiming Disney’s stock dropped 7% after ABC pre-empted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and wrote, “It’s going to go down a lot further if they cancel his show. Disney does not want to be the ones that broke America.”

Ruffalo is a major player in Disney’s Marvel universe, which could make his support more influential as the media titan negotiates with Kimmel on next steps. He first appeared in 2012’s “The Avengers” as Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk, and went on to reprise the role in seven additional films and several Marvel TV shows.

The “Now You See Me” star is hardly the first to speak up for the late-night host. Wanda Sykes, who was set to appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” the day taping was canceled, posted a video on Instagram defending Kimmel and criticizing the Trump administration.

She said, “Let’s see. He didn’t end the Ukraine war or solve Gaza within his first week. But he did end freedom of speech within his first year. Hey, for those of you who pray, now’s the time to do it. Love you, Jimmy.”

Fellow late-night frontman Conan O’Brien took to X to share his thoughts on the matter. He wrote, “The suspension of @jimmykimmel and the promise to silence other Late Night hosts for criticizing the administration should disturb everyone on the Right, Left, and Center. It’s wrong and anyone with a conscience knows it’s wrong.”

On Wednesday, ABC pulled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” off its schedule “indefinitely” after Nexstar Media, one of the largest owners of TV stations in the nation, vowed to pre-empt airings of the program after “strongly objecting” to Kimmel’s comments on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
