Federal agents shoot person in Minnesota, governor says

MINNEAPOLIS — Federal agents shot a person in Minneapolis, Gov. Tim Walz said Saturday.

City officials in Minneapolis also said they are aware of reports of a possible shooting involving a federal law enforcement agent.

The incident happened in the area of West 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue. It was captured on a video posted to Facebook and verified by NBC News.

“We are working to confirm additional details. We ask the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate area,” the city said in a Facebook post.

Two intersections in South Minneapolis have been blocked from traffic. Dozens of masked federal immigration officers are on the scene, and protesters have started to gather.

Officers have let off some tear gas and pepper bombs.

A DHS spokesperson said, “Suspect had a firearm with 2 magazines situation evolving. Will get you more information ASAP.”

Walz said he spoke to the White House.

“Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” he said in a post on X. “The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”

The shooting comes weeks after Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis.
