LIVE: Nintendo Switch 2 bundle deals, and up to 57% off games!

I’m taking a break from the blog for tonight. There are no new Switch Black Friday deals to report in the US, I’m afraid, but we’ll continue scouting over the weekend as we approach Cyber Monday. Happy hunting!

Expect some deals to last even longer. Nintendo’s planning to run its own UK Nintendo Switch 2 offer with a year’s free Switch Online membership and a free Luigi tree decoration all the way through until January.

There are still decent Switch 2 bundle deals at Very too, either with Mario Kart World plus another game or with Donkey Kong Bananza, one of our most recent favourites.

The cheapest Switch 2 bundle remains at Argos, where you can get the Switch 2 console and Mario Kart World for £399.99.

I would still recommend the Switch lite if you want a portable player and don’t care about it plugging into your TV.

We loved reviewing the Switch 2. We were actually super surprised by how much better it is than the previous iterations. But none the less, not surprised that it has made such waves.

In case you’ve forgotten, there are a lot of Nintendo Switch consoles, three to be exact. And if you want to choose between them you might need our guide, Switch 2 vs Switch OLED.

The Nintendo Switch 2 and the Switch OLED differ mainly in power, screen technology, and how well they suit different play styles. The Switch 2 is a significant performance upgrade, offering higher resolutions, faster frame rates, and far more internal storage, making it better for players who use the console docked or want something more future-proof for newer games. Its larger 1080p LCD screen is sharper than the OLED’s 720p panel, though it lacks the deep blacks and rich contrast that make the OLED model so visually appealing in handheld mode.

The OLED also tends to last longer on battery and is often cheaper, which can make it better value for players who mainly use the console on the go. In short, the Switch 2 prioritises power and longevity, while the Switch OLED excels in handheld image quality, simplicity, and price.

How is everyone doing out there? It’s a bit dry isn’t it? The wave of Switch 2 discounts we’ve seen are exciting but we were hoping for more.

If you’re not a fan of Nintendo’s Joy-Con controllers, then I have a handy guide to the best Joy-Con Alternatives featuring some excellent retro-looking Bluetooth options. I hated the Joy-Cons on the original Switch console, mainly due to the dreaded stick drift that kept returning (I even had them repaired by Nintendo), but thankfully, the Switch 2 pads don’t seem to have this issue.

There’s a great deal right now over at Amazon in the UK with the Switch OLED model for only £299 PLUS you also get Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 thrown in as well.

Typically, the Nintendo Switch OLED model retails for around £300 give or take, so this deal is not only saving you a whopping £100 but the game double pack is worth £49.95 too.

One of the cheapest ways to get a Nintendo Switch this Black Friday is to buy refurbished. Right now, Amazon is offering the original Switch for $224, down from $328.

Some people’s childhood was marked by the fierce rivalry between Blur and Oasis fans. For me, it was Mario vs Sonic. I was Team Mario all the way (mostly cos I didn’t own a Sega console), but now that the Console Wars seem to be all but over, with everything available everywhere, I’ve learned to stop worrying and love Sonic. (Also the recent films are great, refreshingly pain-free experiences at the cinema with my kid.)

And I have good news for fellow Sonic fans: the Sonic X Shadow Generations game for Switch 2 is half off!

I guess until then I’ll have to make do with 10% off the Super Mario Galaxy bundle.

And the main pull is that it has a standardised price of $250 (though admittedly, it’s pretty hard to get hold of).

Now we’re getting to possibly the best apples for apples dupe of the Switch.

The Lenovo Legion Go S 8 has 120Hz refresh like the Switch 2, has about an inch bigger display, and like the other alts offers a massive game library.

But it’s heavier and, of course, doesn’t have those sweet, sweet Nintendo games.

However, it is down by $200, from $650 to $450 over at Best Buy.

The second Switch alternative that’s worth thinking about is the Asus ROG Ally X.

Now, this is a pricey monkey! At $869 (with no discount), it’s over twice the price of the Switch 2. Bu again, you get a high performance handheld gaming console here. This bad boy prioritises power and PC game compatibility over the friendly gaming experience of the Switch.

OK, so if the Nintendo Switch 2 deals aren’t bowling you over, have you thought about the main Switch alternatives?

Obviously, you won’t get the exclusive games that you get with the Switch, but you may level up on screens, cheaper games, and more raw power.

So what are they? First up, there’s the Steam Deck OLED. You get a superior OLED HDR screen, but the main selling point is the utterly massive game library, where single games are a lot less than the standard $70 Switch price point.

It released in November 2023, and the average price these days is $549 for the 512GB model and $649 for the 1TB model.

The Nintendo Switch Lite is $189 at Walmart so is a bargain option.

If you really don’t want to spend too much money I think the LIte is still a good option.

It’s a compact console that slips easily into a backpack or large pocket, ready for a quick session anywhere. Unlike its larger sibling, it’s designed solely for handheld play, trading TV docking and detachable Joy‑Cons for a lightweight, integrated design. Its 5.5-inch touchscreen delivers crisp visuals for solo adventures, while the built-in D-pad makes platformers and 2D games feel precise and intuitive. For those who travel frequently, commute, or simply want a second portable console, the Lite offers immediate accessibility to the extensive Switch library at a lower price point.

Some features, like HD Rumble, motion controls, and multiplayer options requiring extra Joy‑Cons, are limited, but for gamers who prioritize convenience and mobility, these compromises are minimal. The Switch Lite isn’t just a smaller console, it’s a deliberate, thoughtful choice for anyone who wants Nintendo’s world of games.

Heading over to the US for a minute – a pretty good bundle is over at QVC: get the Switch 2 with Mario Cart World and a voucher! If the site is to believed (and I see no reason to doubt it), there have been 766 shoppers that have added this deal into their carts in the last 24 hours.

As far as I can see, in the UK the best deal on the Switch – by itself, not as a bundle – is £385 over at EE. That’s a saving of £10.99 (please see my note on managing expectations below 🙂

There’s currently a juicy deal on Switch Sports accessories for £21.41 at Amazon. The kit includes Tennis Rackets, Golf Clubs, Chambara Swords, Soccer Leg Straps, Joy-Con Grips and a carry bag – everything you need to foster some healthy family competitiveness.

Should you upgrade to a Switch 2? Is it worth the investment? Let’s break it down.

If you’re still rocking with the OG Switch, the 2 is going to feel like a major upgrade. With improvements to resolution, speed, Joy-Con reliability and a bigger screen, the 2 is a great step up.

Owners of the Switch Lite will benefit from a bigger screen and general performance/feature upgrades. You’ll also get the ability to connect to your TV – a sacrifice that comes with the Lite’s more affordable price.

But what if you’ve got an OLED? With its elite pure black levels, the OLED boasts some gorgeous graphics – but so does the Switch 2. With better performance, 4K docked output and 1080p handheld resolution, the perks arguably outweigh the losses.

Since savings are a little sparse this year, bundles are where it’s at.

Switch 2 deals have been pretty tepid to say the least, but bagging yourself a bundle deal can save you some serious wedge on those expensive Switch games.

If you’re looking for a mega deal and don’t mind spending a tad more, this Mario Kart World + Donkey Kong bananza Switch 2 bundle is now £439 at very.co.uk

You can’t mention Nintendo without thinking about their leading man, Mario.

Originally, creator Shigeru Miyamoto called him “Mr Video” or “Ossan”, which is Japanese for “middle-aged man”. In Donkey Kong, he was simply christened “Jumpman”, but sadly, these names didn’t stick. His new name comes from a gag in the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros. movie, which led him to become officially known as Mario Mario.

Okay, don’t try this, but did you know that the Switch cartridges all have a bitter taste? Each one is coated with denatonium benzoate – an extremely bitter, non-toxic substance that deters children from swallowing the tiny game cards.

I know you’re practically begging for some nerdy Switch trivia, so here you are.

Did you know the OG Switch actually featured a design easter egg? The right Joy-Con was printed with a message that read “ACMOS” (“SOMA C” spelt backwards), referring to “A Controllable Mechanical Object S” – an early codename for the Joy-Con and a reference to the former Nintendo President Satoru Iwata’s philosophy.

Ah, Switch gods, you have been cruel this year…

For any UK-based folks, there are some (quite frankly) measly deals to be had on the latest Switch 2 console. Our best price so far is the Nintendo Switch 2: was £395.99 , now £384.50 at Argos.

If you’re not fussed on getting the latest model you can bag yourself a Nintendo Switch OLED: was £309 , now £280.60 at Amazon.

Good morning! And it’s Officiallu Black Friday. We do expect new deals to drop today on Switch and across the different retailers, so we will keep our eyes open for new opportunities to save you money. With that in mind, I’ll be right back.

With UK Black Friday Switch 2 deals now thoroughly checked, I’m taking a break from live updates for tonight. We’ll be back tomorrow to see where things stand and to hunt for any Black Friday Switch deals in the US.

I’ll leave you with one final discount courtesy of Amazon UK. It has a £10 saving on the Switch 2 Pro Controller, now reduced to £64.95.

Amazon’s also dropped the price of a Switch OLED bundle with Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 by £20.95. It now works out as £44.90 cheaper than buying the console and games separately.

These two classic Wii games were only released for the Switch in October, and this bundle will allow you to relive them in time for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie next year.

It’s now Friday in the UK, and not much has changed. The Switch bundle deals that we’ve been picking out are all the same.

I have spotted one other game discount though. Amazon has the physical edition of Donkey Kong Bananza reduced from £54.95 to £48.95.

This is a deal that we’ve seen crop up before, but it should be welcome for anyone who already has a Switch 2. If you’re looking to buy a console too, the bundle at Very still represents a bigger saving.

Best Buy has a small discount on the Switch OLED in the US too: it’s reduced from $399.99 to $378.83, but that’s not as good as Amazon’s price.

Amazon also has a discount from a third-party seller on the Switch 2, but don’t get too excited. It’s a renewed console. That said, it’s described as being in excellent condition, and renewed or open-box offers might be the only Switch 2 deals in the US this Black Friday.

Heading over to the US while we wait for midnight to come around in the UK, Amazon now has a still relatively rare discount on the Switch OLED via third-party seller. Unlike the deal at Walmart, this appears to be a US version rather than an import. At least, it doesn’t say it’s an import.

On the search page, Amazon says this is an exclusive price for Prime members, but I’ve been able to add it to my basket, and I’m not currently a Prime subscriber.

Nintendo’s own Black Friday bundle deals in the UK revolve around a free 12-month Nintendo Switch Online membership – plus an extra little bonus item. All of the bundles above come with a Luigi ornament as a free gift to hang on your Christmas tree!

These are good deals if you were considering a subscription anyway since you get your first year free. Just remember to turn off auto-renew if you don’t want to continue paying after that.

Amazon’s now (just) beating Argos for the best Switch 2 price in the UK on the console alone. It’s charging £385, while Argos is charging £385.95.

Argos still has the best price on the bundle with Mario Kart World, though.

I’ve done some digging and it seems the voucher that comes with that Switch 2 bundle deal at QVC is for Mighty Skins, which offers customisable Switch skins as well as its own models.

These typically cost $39.99, so QVC’s ‘Black Friday Deal’ works out $70 more expensive than what it would cost to buy everything separately, not factoring in any variations in delivery costs.

Remember to be on the alert for dubious Switch deals during Black Friday. QVC is offering a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World, the piranha plant camera and a case for 24 games, which it says is Black Friday deal reduced from $699 to $649. But even with the $50 discount, buying this bundle means you would be paying $100 for a little plastic case and a mysterious voucher for a skin!

Nobody panic but we are coming up to 9pm in the UK which means there’s only 3 hours to go until Dark Friday.

Admittedly, there wasn’t an awful lot I could afford besides a limited edition Nintendo tote bag – but it was still such a fun experience! For example, Star Wars Outlaws has fallen to just $30 (an extra $9.99 off), and Sonic X Shadow Generations is now $24.99, dropping by $11.88 since I last checked. Some of the best prices I’m seeing are at Target, where you can get favourites like Mario Odyssey and Princess Peach: Showtime for as little as $29.99!

The collectible LEGO Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi is now $129.99 $104.99 on Amazon, making it an eye-catching buy for yourself or as a present. It’s a chunky 1,200‑plus piece build that brings 16‑bit nostalgia into physical form, and even features a neat mechanical Yoshi tongue-flick.

If platforming perfection is your thing, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD has just dropped to $59.99 $29.99 on Nintendo Switch. This remastered classic brings crisp HD visuals, tighter controls, and the same frantic co-op chaos that made the original a standout.

It’s the same game you remember, just prettier, tighter, and still tricky enough to make you yell at the TV and throw a controller at the wall. And now, for half the price, you can afford to buy that replacement pad.

Getting a Switch 2 and need some new headphones, but cash is right, after all, you did just buy a Switch 2, then Amazon’s deal on the Razer BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed Wireless Gaming Headset for $129.99 $59.99 – a huge 54% off – is worth a look.

Lightweight yet sturdy, the Razer BlackShark V2 features 50 mm Titanium drivers and THX spatial audio for precise, immersive sound. If there’s one issue to be wary of, based on Amazon reviews, is that he mic can feel ‘muddy’ if used over wireless, so consider this when buying. It’s best used wired. But then they are more than half price.

Nintendo Switch has always been a great retro game console, not least because Nintendo pushes so many iconic games onto its Online subscription, but because many classics from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s play really nicely on a handheld.

Below are my picks of the best retro games and collections on Switch, including the excellent Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration and the brilliant Capcom Fighting Collection 2, which was released earlier this year.

I can’t believe it’s 2025 and Just Dance remains one of the best games on Nintendo. I mean, what’s next, an American Idol resurgence? Oh, well. You could buy Let’s Sing 2026. Anyway, if you do want to have some party fun on Switch that doesn’t involve Mario, here are those games…

Next, games. Big first-party titles like The Legend of Zelda or Mario Kart World sometimes drop in price around Black Friday. If you’ve been holding off on a backlog, now’s the time. Don’t forget digital codes, either, as online retailers often bundle extra content or offer percentage discounts.

Nintendo Accessories are another sweet spot. Controllers, carrying cases, and Amiibo figures often see significant markdowns. Wireless Pro Controllers and charging docks are particularly worthwhile since they rarely go on sale outside holiday periods.

Finally, check for Nintendo Online memberships. Some retailers bundle months of service with purchases, effectively giving you free time to explore classics.

Should you wait until tomorrow to bag the best deal? It’s quite hard to tell to be honest, but most retailers went early with their Black Friday discounts. Amazon’s sale has been live for a week now, and other retailers like Best Buy and Walmart have also already started their sales.

If you want to be totally totally sure, at this point in the day, you could wait until tomorrow to find out if anything drops further. But then you run the risk of things selling out, and the Switch does tend to sell out. It’s a tricky one.

Some retailers are offering a Black Friday guarantee, these include Best Buy, Target and Newegg in the US, and Currys and Argos in the UK. This means if you buy now and the retailer then reduces the price over Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you’ll get a refund for the difference.

What about this QVC deal though?

Is it worth bothering with?

Well, you get the Switch + Mario Kart World ($499 at Amazon), Piranha Plant camera ($39.99 at Amazon) a card case for 24 games ($7.99 at Amazon) plus an unspecified voucher for $659.99, down from $699.99

Now all of the above comes to $546.98. It doesn’t say how much the voucher is worth, but $100?. If you want to take your chances then you can grab this bundle, otherwise you might be better buying the items individually.

It offers a Switch 2, Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bonanza for £439, down from £484.

Let’s compare it to Amazon. If you were to buy the Switch 2 on its own, which would cost you £385, plus Mario Kart World for £52.95 plus Donkey Kong Bonanza for £48.95, you’d be spending £486.90.

If you were to buy the Switch 2 plus Mario Kart bundle for £404.95, plus Donkey Kong, that would set you back £453.90.

So either way, you’re better off at Very!

If you want something different from a Switch and have kids, then the nEx Playground is a fantastic option. It’s plug and play, and comes with a play pass. The games are titles like Bluey and Barbie, and it can be a super-active way of gaming.

It’s currently $199.99 at Amazon, not the lowest we’ve seen but a decent $50 discount all the same.

If history is to be believed we won’t get much better discounts on the Switch 2. I’ve spend a lot of sales events Switch deal hunting and the OLED was always hit and miss. There’s simply no reason for Nintendo to reduce the Switch 2 by much at the moment – so these bundle deals are way better than they look.

If you’ve picked up a Nintendo Switch OLED, Black Friday and seasonal sales are the perfect moment to build out your library without paying full price.

A handful of big first-party titles tend to drop in price more often than you’d expect, and they look especially gorgeous on the OLED’s brighter, richer screen. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is usually one of the first to get a discount, and it’s still the ultimate multiplayer staple, ideal if you want a quick, high-energy game that shows off the display’s colour and contrast.

Super Mario Odyssey is another frequent sale favourite: a colourful, endlessly creative platformer that feels right at home on the OLED. Breath of the Wild also sees the occasional price dip, and while it’s rarely heavily discounted, even £10–£15 off is worth grabbing for one of the best open-world adventures ever made. For something a little moodier, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Pikmin 4 also pop up in sale rotations, both offering visually rich worlds that shine on the upgraded screen.

The beauty of shopping for Switch OLED games on sale is that many of Nintendo’s biggest hits hold up brilliantly years later — so when they do get reduced, you’re genuinely getting top-tier experiences at a lower cost.

If you’re torn over which games to look for, some of the biggest Switch 2 releases might be for you. While none of these are on sale yet, these are titles to dream of.

Donkey Kong Bananza kicked off the year as a big, bright, beautifully chaotic refresh of the DK formula. Think lush jungles, chunky physics, and that unmistakable Nintendo polish. It’s the kind of game that reminds you why platformers still matter.

Then came Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, proving once again that the Zelda universe has endless creative range. It’s loud, it’s dramatic, and it leans hard into cinematic action.

And of course Hades II arrived and instantly owned the indie-meets-blockbuster space. Stylish, sharp, and endlessly replayable.

But how do you choose a deal? Our expertise, of course, but also consider the following advice.

Start by deciding which version of the Nintendo Switch suits you, or whoever you’re buying for. You don’t need to focus on the Switch 2 if you’re on a budget.

The OLED model, with its brighter screen and better handheld experience, is perfect for players who’ll use it on the go or share it around the family. The standard Switch offers the best balance between handheld and docked play, while the Switch Lite is a brilliant budget option for kids or solo handheld gaming. Knowing the model you want helps you filter out flashy bundles that don’t give you what you actually want.

Once you’re looking at deals, don’t get distracted by a big “bundle” label. The smartest approach is to compare the value inside the package, not just the price on the screen. Add up the real cost of the console, any included games, and accessories, and ignore inflated RRPs shops sometimes use to make discounts look bigger. Meaningful savings are usually £20–£50 or more, especially if a bundle includes a top Nintendo title like Mario Kart, Zelda, or Animal Crossing. These first-party games hold their value and rarely see big discounts, so their presence often signals an actual bargain.

It’s also worth paying attention to the extras. For digital gamers, Black Friday is a great time to grab a discounted microSD card, which can be just as valuable as a price drop on a game. On the other hand, be wary of bundles padded with cheap cases or unlicensed controllers, they’re sometimes added to justify a higher price but don’t offer real benefit.

I’m a huge sports games fan, and I was thrilled (and more than a little tempted) when I saw that the latest Madden NFL, which has been out for all of 38 seconds (or a couple months, who’s really counting), is a mahoosive 57% off, down to $29.99 from its sticker price of $69.99.

Even if you don’t watch the NFL regularly, the Madden games are really entertaining and surprisingly easy to get into. And at this price? Affordable too. Result.
