The Game has seen a bit of everything, but for the first time, both Michigan and Ohio State are fighting for playoff positioning when they meet today inside Michigan Stadium.
No. 1 Ohio State (11-0) is a shoo-in for the postseason, but No. 15 Michigan (9-2) needs a win against its rival to give itself a shot at making the 12-team field. If that happens, it will be the second straight upset in the series and, more impressively, the first five-game winning streak for Michigan in the series since the mid-1920s.
The Wolverines stunned the sport with a 13-10 victory at Ohio State last season, knocking the Buckeyes out of the Big Ten title game while also — strangely — motivating and propelling their rivals to an inspiring run through the playoff to win a national championship. Ohio State coach Ryan Day has been phenomenal in his career, but Michigan is still a thorn in his side. He’s 1-4 against the Buckeyes and 52-1against the rest of the Big Ten.
Kickoff is set for noon ET on Saturday.
