It was the Hawkeyes’ worst home loss at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Penn State won nine of 10 matches and scored two rankings upset wins.
The Lions won the takedown battle 15-2.

Mitchell Mesenbrink is now 7-0 against Iowa’s Mikey Caliendo. The Penn State 165-pounder used a late stalling point and a takedown at the buzzer to beat the Hawkeye by major decision, 11-2. He also scored at the end of the second period, as well, to lead to a win that gets the Lions an extra team point.
The Lions now lead the Hawkeyes 17-3 heading into 174.
