At halftime of a sloppy, mistake-filled wild-card game, the Houston Texans lead the visiting Los Angeles Chargers, 10-6.
The mistakes started early, with the Chargers getting stuffed on third-and-1 on their opening drive, the Texans fumbling on their first play and the Chargers dropping an easy first down on the ensuing possession. Both C.J. Stroud and Justin Herbert would eventually throw interceptions (on back-to-back snaps), while the teams combined to convert just 4 of 14 third downs and averaged a mere 5.0 yards per play.
The Texans looked like they were asleep for much of the first half, and yet somehow entered halftime with a lead because L.A. failed to take advantage of the slow start. Houston’s 99-yard touchdown drive at the end of the half finally saw Stroud connect consistently with Nico Collins, who has scored the game’s only touchdown. Stroud’s 27-yard run on the final drive of the half set up a Ka’imi Fairbairn field goal to tack three more points onto Houston’s lead at the break.
